Local Dredging Project costs $6 to $8 per cubic yard

BREAKING NEWS. Well, folks I just found out some interesting news. Have you all seen the dredge working in the ship channel near the harbor bridge. Well, the dredging cost is six to eight dollars per cubic yard. This is even though it is a large project which reduces the mobilization cost. Now the pro-packery people are telling us that they can dredge packery for $2 per cubic yard. This is even though the cost at Mansfield Pass was about $3 per cubic yard 5 years ago and Shiner, Mosely and Assoc. report in their study for Galveston County published in Jan. 2000 minimum costs of $3 to $5 per cubic yard.

If it is so cheap, why does it cost so much in the ship channel.

Maybe some of the 4000 jobs at packery are going to be jobs for illegal immigrants to dredge it with shovels at $2 per cubic yard.
